SUMMER
Hello;

There is no work from here until the middle of September. I do not want to think about it but it is a little bit worrying because I need to make money. The reality is that we have not been able to come up with a well-done show that we could take this year to Edinburgh. Also apart from those reasons we do not have any money so we could not have done it thou we may have thought of taking the risk.

That means that we need to make a little bit of money in order to be able to survive.

I am happy to spend the summer at home with Miren but on the other hand this could have been a very good year to go to the festival with a new show so we could have tried to raise our profile.

So now Stephan in Vienna with his family and they all will be coming to spend some time here in Bilbao. They are going to stay here for a couple of weeks and we will use the time to go surfing.

Toby will go for the summer to France where his mum has an amazing house. They will be going later on to Germany and they will stop in Zurich to visit our friends.

Paul is going to have a baby. Paul Willeman from KKG so it is going to be nice to see him with his little one. Anyway this is completely another subject.

Petra is going to stay at home. She has lots of things to sort out before she can think on going on holydays or anything like that. In any case one I do not want to comment because it is a private, it belongs to her private life.

And then we all need a little bit of time to get away and to have to time for thinking in our own things. Also, after Montreal is fells as if everything is going to pick up and we are going to get really famous.

Have fun.

BERGMAN
Hello,

Bergman died today. I said died because when I found out he was already dead. And it is a real pity because he was a really good man of the theatre and he was also an amazing man of the movies.

For years I tried to watch his movies but they were too boring. Los of people told me to see them and to give them another chance and even very recently my dear friend Riel and His lovely girlfriend Stephanie told me that I should give them another go. And today when I open the paper there he is dead and gone forever.

Many years ago when I started to do some theatre I read “the magic lantern”. It was his autobiography. He wrote a book about his life. He told how did he became interested in theatre and how from there he got into movies. It all made lots of sense.

It was very funny how he will talk about the actors. He saw himself as a powerful presence that intimidates his actors. So when one of them would have problems understanding what he wanted him to do he will take them to a corner and the he will put his arm around the actor's shoulders and will give the indications like a big secret, a secret that he was entitled to keep but no one else.

And incredible man that changed the way we saw movies.

And I saw a play directed by him for the Dramaten of Stockholm. The play was Peer Gynt. He had directed it with his favourite actress Live Ullman. She played the mother of the main character and of course there was translation through headphones because the whole play was in Swedes.

But for me Bergman became great when I got to know Woody Allen and Philippe Gaulier. Woody Allen love Bergman and I love Woody Allen so if he likes him so much it becomes enough good reason for me to try to watch all his movies one more time.

Then Philippe found the Master a little bit slow and a little bit boring so in his school we had lots of fun taking the piece of his style of movie. We laughed and laughed for a very long time.

I own it to him his blog but own to myself to see his movies that I am going to order in Amazon as soon as I finish writing this lines.

Have fun.

NEW BOARD
Hello;

Like big sailing boat I called my board Spymonkey I. This means from now on all my boards will be called SPYMONKEY.
I say this because I hope that Spymonkey will carry on existing for as long as I ca carries on doing surfing. If things go very well I will be able to finally buy a sailing boat and then it will be call SPYMONKEY too.
My wander now is what SPYMONKEY number it will be? I suppose it all depends of the amount of years that will take us to make enough money to also have and keep a sailing boat.

Anyway, I am drifting away from the subject that matters. Ï have ordered a new surfboard at a local shop called EUKALIPTUS. I know this label from the time when I started to surf. My first board was also a EUKALIPTUS and at the time they were shaped by and Australian shaper that we thought it was the best thing in the world.
I cannot believe that I do not remember his name. I think the Alzaimer is starting to hit on me.

I choose a 6'6 board. It will be blue in top and white in the bottom. It will also have a blue line marking all the board around to make it a little bit cooler. The most important thing was to match with the colours of the room where the board is going to live.

My brief to the shaper was that I do not get the opportunity to go surfing as much as I would like and I am not very much in shape so I need a quite wide and fat board so I can float easily and get as many waves as possible.

He asked me a couple of questions but I say not to everything. He asked me if I knew how to make turns and floaters and manoeuvres like the good ones. Then he asked me for my height and I gave it to him then he asked me for my weigh and I say ninety and he said ok let's say eighty five and he looked at me smiling.

I am going to pay three hundred and fifty euros for the board but it is going to be my board and it has been shaped thinking on me and that I like it a lot.

It is going to take five days to get done and then I will have to wait an extra week until it dries. So I will have my new custom made board something that I always dream to have but never dear or could have.

I will see you in the waves.

Have fun.

AND NEVER AGAIN
Hello;

I have done it again, it is my fault because I told myself some time ago, and I will never do it again. SO it is true that said that says that “never say never again”.

I love that movie “Never say never again”. The legend says that Sean Connery after he finished shooting the latest James Bond movie he was asked if he would do another James Bond movie again and he answered “Never again”.

Months later and for reasons I do not know he announced that he just has finished shooting the latest James Bond movie. A reporter in the place where they were asking for the title of the movie and Sean Connery said, “Never say never again”.

I do not know if it is true but once again I have done it. I went to do a job without asking first how much money was I going to get paid. I had an informal conversation with the director of the job but what he said and what the producer was thinking were completely different things. So at the end I got fucked up and with less money that I was expecting to receive.

I tried to change thing but after a change of mails with the producer I understood that everything was going to be about begging and trying to convince someone that the amount that they were paying to us was far too little in comparison to what people in the trade get usually pay.

I put my tale between my legs and I wrote to him I accept the money that he was going to pay me.

So why do I say never again? Because I have done the same in the pass and I have not been happy with the money they paid me and especially for jobs that I was doing just for the money. So this lesson hopefully it will help me to not make the same mistake again in the future.

But anyway I can not say “never again” because I am sure knowing myself and my disastrous disposition I am very likely to make the same kind of mistake sooner or later.

So as the famous man once legendary said, “never say never again”

Have fun.

THE PROTECTOR
Hello;

Yesterday in the news I read that a big mafia boss had crashed with his private plane in the middle of the Colombian jungle.

The police found the place two days later. The information said that there were eight people in the plane plus the two pilots. When the police found the plane they only found six bodies. The bodies of three kids of the mafia boss and of one of his bodyguards are not being founds anywhere. The police believe that they have gone into the jungle and they really fear for their safety.

The three kids and the personal bodyguard left the plane as soon as they saw that they were the only people alive. The bodyguard did not wan to get any chances. He knew the jungle was very dangerous and a crashed plane always ends up in flames and blowing away. The kids were not all together but at least they were safe. Now he had two options; one leaves the kids in the jungle to their mercy or tries to get them away with him. If he will do the first thing no one will blame him. In this situation if the surviving of the fittest and he was the fittest out of all of them and if he will do the second thing he could ask for a ransom as soon as he will take the kids safe to New York. The family will pay very good money for those kids and they will be grateful forever with him.

The bodyguard took the kids through the first part of the way out of the plane and when they decided to stop they heard a big explosion. He knew the plain had blown away and the worst thing of it is that it will tell all the Narcos of the jungle that there is someone running away from the jungle and also to the paramilitars that there may be a new head to hunt so later on they could get a decent sum of money to carry on their particular war.

All of these things did not appeared in the paper . The note on the paper was small and lacked of details. But everybody knows that if you crushed or get lost in the Colombian jungle it is very likely that things will get really nasty and that your life will end not by the bite of snake but by the bullets of one of the many groups of armed men and women who populate that lovely jungle.

I have not told anything.

Have fun.

SANTA EVITA
Hello;

Surprise¡¡ I am back in London.

I am doing a voice over for a game that it is strictly Top-Secret. I have signed a paper that forbids me to say anything and to disclosure any information about it.

It is great to be so important.

Anyway, “Santa Evita” is a novel by an Argentinean writer who fantasise about the famous legend of the three dead bodies of Evita Peron. Evita Peron was the wife of General Peron one of the multiples dictators that the lovely country of Argentina has had along its history.

The new company Tancacha got a grant to develop some material towards a show based on that book.

I just made it to see the first ever run through of that weeks work. I have many friends in the cast and I know the director. Antonio Gil Martinez is the director and then the founders of the company are Maria and Claire.

The place where the run through is going to happen is the same place where many years ago I did the audition for KKG. The audition that changes my life as it is at the moment.

As we wait for the whole thing to start I meet the other members of the audience and we all find out something about ourselves. Probably that is one of the best things of going to see a run through of invited audience only you get to meet many new people.

The show is about to start and the audience is taken downstairs. The show stars outside the building. Then we will get lead through many different places where different scenes will get play and finally they will ask us the audience to give a feed back.

I did enjoy for a while. The story is very confusing and but the performers are very good and the balance between both have not been achieved just yet.

I like Darren. He is very good and when he talks in Spanish he does not do it as if he will be making a joke. The last scene really irritates me because we had to go back downstairs once again and I did not have my shoes on. I hate taking my shoes of. I just do not like it.

At the end they gave a glass of wine and we chatted. I could not say anything, I was confused. There were fat too many things to comment and I did not know if I had enjoyed. As time passed and what I saw got marinated in my brain I started to enjoy more.

It is a very confusing book but a very interesting an amazing character. The company I love them and well it was a great time to spend the afternoon seeing the work of inspiring people.

Have fun.

AT HOME
Hello;

I have landed thou I have not feel as if I have landed yet.   I am looking through the windows of my house and what I see is the same view I have seen for a very long time and again today as I sit in my sofa everything feels different.

Montreal has been very intense. If everything they have told us they want to do with that and us they are going to do with us we are going to become quite busy. We will be going all over the place and we will be working touring mainly in North America. We will be doing runs in New York and hopefully we will end up doing the dream run of playing in Broadway.

Also we will be doing lots of TV sitcoms and movies for the tele and we will do a series of movies in Hollywood.   We will have such a big team of people working for us that it is going to be impossible to know everybody's names.

And now I look through the window and we are in the middle of the summer and still the weather here does not seem to have changed for the more welcome summer weather. The wind is quite strong and the sky is grey. It is hot and I can see people that are coming back from the beach. They have nice suntans.

So how can I mix both realities? How can I keep cool and busy thinking about other things and then be able to enjoy the time I am going to spend in here?

I do not have a fucking clue.

I wish everything happened. Not, because I want to be famous or rich it is more one of those where you just get the opportunity to try many things that you never thought you were going to be allowed to try.
Funnily enough I saw this famous actor on the tele some time ago and he was saying the fear in our profession is “when we will be discover?” “When everybody will realise that we have never been any different to normal people? And today you just uncovered us, you took the mask and we are going to go back home to live the boring life. We will never be allowed again to live the exciting life that we have had all these past years.

I love my little town and I love my people but I live much more to live going around exciting places and meeting exciting people and doing exciting things.

And now I have to cook lunch for Miren so she can have a siesta before going back to work afterwards.

Have fun.

THE CONTAINER
Hello;

The container is the new blockbuster for the summer. The movie and story that will break record s and most important it will blow the minds of all the good people of this world.

The story of a big container that is travelling through the ocean from Montreal all the way to Brighton. The containers will sail in a big ship with many other containers and he will have to survive to all the rude and raff life of the sea.

The gangs of containers in the ship will try to end his life, he will fall in love with another container but their love will be impossible. She is a container on her way to the middle east where very likely she will became a house for a family of Muslim terrorists.

Do not miss the movie of the summer goes and sees the Container.

Well, it was orange, we were tired, and we had been partying for the last time with our friends from the Montreal crew and all the Hollywood stars that were at the festival. Yes, all of them were there.

It is quite funny that when you are star you are so used to get freebies that when you go to a party full of freebies you will rather by your own drink. It seems that for them that is more exciting. We stayed much longer that we should have and when the moment to face the container arrived it was too late to fell happy about it.

There he was in a big lorry and waiting for us to fill him up. And so we did and when we finished we were dehydrated and it was really sunny and Petra, Lucy and Toby stayed up the whole night and of course they were completely mashed.

Ad the rest of us were getting ready to fly home and the container was going to take a month to make it home but there was not work ahead of us so why bother.

And we all sat on the stairs of the entrance to the theatre and let our minds to fly a little bit and we realised that we have had probably one of the best times ever and that we were going to miss Montreal a lot thou it was not our own place but in a very short but intense period of time it had became a dear place for all of us and if everything that was said here would happen in the future then it would be a turning point for Spymonkey.

Good bye container.

Have fun.

SPYMONKEY AT THE NEWS
Hello;

"Extra shows were added for Danny Boy, Billy Connolly, Eddie Izzard, Russell Peters and for the British comedy troupe Spymonkey, which Hills said was "a real breakout," with interest in reproducing the show in Toronto and New York as well as some film and TV buzz."

"Cheers for classy Spymonkey move

The Gazette

Published: Thursday, July 19

Small gestures mean a lot. During a performance of Spymonkey's show Cooped, there was a gentleman in a motorized wheelchair parked at the front of the Centaur audience, ahead of seats that were not sold because the sight-lines were less than ideal.

Comedic actor Aitor Basauri as Parchment/Judadench/the Bishop, was holding a video monitor as part of one scene and it was not visible to the young man in the chair.

Basauri caught this out of the corner of his eye and moved forward and tilted the screen ever so slightly toward the fan so he could see what we were laughing at. Classy move from a classy guy."

LAST PERFORMANCE
Hello;

There are so many last performances. When you tour and you start to make proper runs in places every time you arrive to last performance of the run there is a new last performance. You have created relationships in the place where e you have been for a couple of weeks and you know that you may never see again at least the 99% of the people. You are going to have to say good-bye far too many times.

The last performance then is full of emotions and you play freer than ever because this may be the last time you will present you play to this theatre and to this people. There is the add thing that you have to strike everything down and in Cooped it is a very big thing.

But here in Montreal, we have had a fantastic run and a fantastic time. We have not had the big audiences that the play deserved and that is something that we are going to have a thought in the future. Is the play not good enough? Do we need to change things so the cues to get tickets will always go around the building? If people like it so much why nobody comes to see the show? Whose fault is it?

But then that was the down but ups were so many. We had a fantastic time with the Montreal crew, Riel, Stephanie, Valerie, Lewis, Mike, his girlfriend (I still have not managed to remember her name) Tim, Anna, Mick, and everybody else.

We had also very good reviews and Franco came to see the show and he liked the show and he liked us very much so he may put us in one of his shows.
Also an American producer is thinking of taking Cooped to his theatre in Toronto and the Road Company have come to us once again and they want us to tour America.

Another down thing is that we had one of the biggest flops ever. We did a gala with the actor who plays the Captain in Star Trek and we did the Jews singing and dancing the pop song and we flopped terribly. As Petra will say you could hear the tumble wee.

We have see an amazing show with some our comedy heroes, Eddy Izzard, Billy Connelly, the Kids in the hall and we have partied with all of them and well I have done a gala with George Lopez, the Mexican-American comedian. It is not bad for a short run.

Things are looking bright thou we are completely broke.

Have fun.

MASSAWIPY
Hello;

And there he was Franco Dragone himself. The man who took Cirque du Soleil to the Artistic highs and once he left the Cirque became a big money making machine. Our own “knight” invited him to the show with the evil Cirque machine, Andrew Watson.

So we set ourselves up on the road to his castle in the mountains of South East Canada. The road was very long and we had to cross the river St. Lorenzo I believe.

We drove looking the great prairie in front of us who took us back to the time when living in Las Vegas we drove through the Nevada desert. Now the landscape was all green. We past lakes, mountains, valleys and villages until when we thought that we had gone completely lost the small village of Massawipy appeared in front of our own eyes.
We had to look for the church and then next to it we will be able to see the castle. And there it was like the young sister of the church by small lake the Watson's castle.

It was a really big house painted in green and white and surrounded by very beautiful flowers in all the colours of the rainbow.

It had a small lake with wild animals and beers. The place was remote and solitary and inviting to seat outside to read books and say hello to the very few villagers who pass by.

A big dog was guarding the house and to the sound of his barking Cynthia came out of the house. She was as pretty as when we saw her for the first time in a party in Montreal some years ago.

Andrew was at the shops she told us and we sat and looked a round until he came. He looked very well and rested and happy to be were he was. He showed us around the house and took us to the place where we will be eating.

He offered us wine but we had to say no, we had a show to do in the evening and it is not customary to drink until you have finished you show.

After a lovely meal and chat we had to go and we were sad because in a very short period of time we all had fallen in love with the small village of Massawipy.

Andrew and Cynthia would join us two days later for a drink in the rooms of the Hyatt.

Have fun.

PLANE
Hello;

My descend to hell starts today because I am lost in my feelings. Usually when I live Bilbao I am always a little bit sad or very sad but it is today the first day when the felling is sad and happy. My feelings are fighting like if a match of a Superball would be. The team of the happy feelings are fighting really hard while the sad felling very strong for the last five seasons this one seem to have lost their best players.

All the advance section have changed teams and are playing in a completely different team and that means that things are not as normal and as good as they used to be. They are scoring far too many goals from the other team. They are scoring goals for the team that used to lead the scores before.

This new situation of not knowing for sure what kind of feelings are wining in my inside great ground battle of emotions is leaving my body completely tired and upset. Because after many years of suffering that battle in my flesh I had developed a system where I could so many things to compensate the pain and also many things to celebrate the victory from the team of going to a new place and now, now my heart is confused because the team that used to win has stopped wining and now I do not know how to celebrate the victory of the other team.

For example it was a fantastic celebration to be in airport a little bit earlier than I should have and then getting the papers or one of my favourite music magazines will help me celebrate the fact that I was going to a new adventure where I did not know what was going to happen and anything new would always be a very big success. Now I go to the airport and I am late, I have to wait the cue and I have to do things that I do not like doing. I get the papers before I go into the airport and when I am there I have already red them so there is not point there is no present to celebrate the going in a new adventure. Something has change and I do not know how to deal with it.

Or staying in Bilbao was always a party a very good party where I will playing games with people that I had not see for a very long time and it will give me fun for days and now I do not want to go anywhere or see anybody because I fell as If I am cheating them pretending that I am having a very good time no, that is not what I mean what I mean is that the good time is going to be very short because I am going to have to leave so there is not point in making plans and that is where the fun now is.

My football team of happiness is getting old and we are going to have to get new players for next season because these ones we have now are so old that they lost the illusion for the game and the hope for wining.

Go to see Cooped in Montreal and do not forget to see Callate in Edinburgh.

Have fun.

AT THE HYATT
Hello;

I am sure you all know what the Hyatt is. The chain of hotels that is very famous because that is where all the Rock and Roll starts of the world stay while they toured. Perhaps not any more but Led Zeppelin did stay at the Hyatt in Sunset Boulevard and thrower that TV through the window, and that make the hotel very famous.

Also there is a very famous Hyatt in Tokyo because the movie “Lost in Translation” I do not know if this one in Montreal is very famous but it is where all the festival shit happens. Well, there are not shows here but you can see all the comedians and agents and talent scouts going around with drinks from 11 o'clock until early hours of the next day. And I wander the things that happen in the rooms or in places where you cannot see.

We have all gathered here because after Michael had to leave really fast Glynis is coming to day and she like Michael is staying at the Hyatt.

We have also said that we will meet here so we can mingle with other people and also get some attention from the people who might have come to see our show and now wants to do business with us.
You can not go really soon to the Hyatt because the important people finish their shows late so the place do not get heated up until later in the evening.
Tonight we have decided to meet also Tim Robinson. He is staying here with his family while he attends work for cirque in Montreal. He is a very good friend. We have not see his family since we left Las Vegas and this is a very good opportunity to do so.

All the Montreal crew is here and we are having a really good fun at the small terrace of the Hyatt, the only place where you are allowed to smoke. I am sure we will all pay the price of this night out tomorrow morning but having had very good reviews and being the talk of the festival we have to let ourselves to be seen and try to make us much as we can from what we are doing.

Have fun.

CIRQUE FRIENDS
Hello;

France, Lilly, Colleen, Brigitte, Karen, and Bettina they all have been coming to see us. In a way you said to them !!come to see my show¡¡ !!It is very nice and funny¡¡ but deep inside we wanted to see them.

Bob, Linda Dupuis came the first night. Sadly I do not think they saw the best performance of the show. Linda was so pretty, she is very pretty but she was glowing. Bob as usual was very funny and a fantastic friend. We really love you guys.

Then France and Lilly and Brigitte came. They did not come all together. I suppose the have enough with seen each other's all the time in the office that when they do not have to work they rather be with some one else.

We visit them in the Cirque headquarters. They all stopped working to come and sit with us in the restaurant while we were eating. I do remember the good time we all had with them in Montreal. They treat us so well that it is impossible to forget them. Thou we artists have the bad habit to forget the people that make possible what we do. France and Lilly and co. they work really hard for all of us to be relax and worried only with what we have to do which is to create the best possible show. As it happens is the people in the top the ones that worry about things they should not worry and that is why Cirque does what they do but that is another story.

I wanted to say thank you to you all who were so nice to help us while we were there and not only you did help us you also became our friends and to see you all again and be able to play for all of you it was really good fun and the best possible present ever.

I know that I have to cooked a couple of Spanish Omelettes for France and Lilly and Brigitte and I will do that next time we are around there. Or perhaps I will be able to do that when they come to visit us in Spain.

Also Louise was really nice coming to see the show and going for drinks with us. I forgot who Bettina was and then when she came to say hello I immediately remember. Sorry Bettina.

Lost of very nice people who the Cirque never listens to anymore. But as I say that is another subject for another day.

Have fun.

INDUSTRY
Hello;

At Drolet 5066 I wait for my car from the festival to come and pick me up. We have a very busy week ahead of us and a super busy day ahead of us. This is the week where everybody from the industry comes to the festival with the hope of finding new talent.

It does sound like a very nice thing to do but the whole thing is just to make the most amount of money possible. It is not easy to make money with the things we do thou there are many people in the world who have made lots of money doing something similar to what we do.

At two thirty, now is two o'clock we all have an interview with a TV station called Chum TV, then we have another TV interview with another TV station and then we have to be in La Clique to rehears a spot for this evening. We are going to be working the whole day and just to think about it makes me tired.

But that is the only reason why we are here, to work. We do not get enough work with Spymonkey. I mean work that it is well paid so we can put all our energies into the company and not worry about how are we going to be able to survive the next month.

This festival is the place to get work because many of the people that can give us work and make us successful are here and we have worked really hard to be here.

While I am sitting here waiting for my card I fell incredibly lucky because thanks to Petra we are here. We thought it was never going to happen. It was “a dead fish in water” Michael said and she pushed it and pushed and here we are once again ready to face the world and fall in love all over again.

This is why I am getting nervous; my car should be here by now. I do not want to be late. It does not look very nice when you have an appointment with the press and you are late for not an apparent reason. It could be that we do not get anything from here but it also could be that we became rich and famous.

I have to go now, there is my car. Bye.

Have fun.

Hello,

The all North American sport is with not doubt about it BBQing.

But I don't really want to talk about that. I like BBQ but not too much. It is not very sophisticated way of cooking and it is never very satisfying, at least for me.

I want to let you know how good friends are Lewis, Valery, Mike, Stephanie, Riel, His mum, Mike's girlfriend, (I am so sorry I do not remember your name) (I do not remember your name as I write probably it will come back to me unspectedly and that would be too late) Sylvane, Gabriel, etc

But what I really want to talk about is the fact that we have done many meals, trips, smokes, drinks and many things with these guys for a period of five years and since the moment zero we are the best of friends.

We see each other very little at the moment because we live in different sides of the ocean. They all live in Montreal and we live in Europe. But every time we see each other's again we laugh and it fells as if we have not been apart for any time.

There are very little people I know that make me fell at home immediately.

I have wandered many times why? Why we became such a good friends and why that friendship is still alive and kicking and have not lost any thing from the first time.

We had memorable time while in Las Vegas preparing Zumanity. The night that Lewis won and Emmy from the academy of TV and straight on from the airport he came to the house of filth and we had the best of parties. That day the cockroaches did not matter and we drunk and play until very late.

The food also has played a very important part. This time as always Lewis and Valerie exceed themselves with an amazing Metze.   I love the humus and the deeps from the Middle East.

Like one of those night the BBQ in Montreal has became part of chain of wonderful times that go in our memories and make grow healthily the friendship that we have with this people.

I love you all very much and I miss you.

Have fun.

3rd FLOOR
Hello;

You open the door, there are the post boxes on the side and a little door that seems could take you to an underground floor. Then you have one, two, three steps that take you to the ground floor. There are two doors, one on the left and the other one on the right. In front of that one there is the first set of stairs. Those three stairs in the beginning you could not take them for a ser of stairs…there are not enough.

That first set has one, two, three, eight steps that take you to a landing with a window that looks at the street you just came from. Leave the window on your back and you face another set of stairs as long as the one you just have gone through.

This is the first floor. It has the same doors as the one underneath and the one above. There is one door on the left and one of the rights. They are similar to each other but not identical anymore. I am sure that when the house was build the doors were all the same but with time the ones that are identical have become similar and many of them have changed to the point that are not even the same door.

I can see that the person leaven on the first floor have customised the knob of the door by putting one that looks like a big crystal stone. It is chic and cool.

When you leave the first floor to the second one there is a sense of de javu because the journey is almost identical. You go up a set of one, two, three, eight stairs to a window similar to the one in the previous landing and then another set of one, two, three, eight stairs that put you in the second floor.

The doors are similar to the one underneath but this time one of them is full of locks. Also the door looks as if it has been violated in a recent passed. It does look old and all those locks made the door look like an old dame wearing lots of jewellery trying to revive a more grandiose pass.

Carry on with the next on, two, three, eight set of stairs to the last window. There you will see that things have change you have arrived to the third floor and last one in the building. When you look through the window you see a big electrical generator hanging from a wood pillar and then the last two doors. There is one more one, two, three, eight set of stairs and then fitting the landing a bar hold by four stick who avoid you falling all the way down.

Now you are on the third floor and it fell high. There are the last two doors of the house and the one that we are going to open is the darkest one in the house and it has a golden knob.

Have fun.

FIREWORKS
Hello;

Today Bruce came to see the show.
We have two Bruce here. One is Bruce Hill. He is the main man of the festival. He is the director of the Festival. There is another more important person in the festival and that one is called Gilles. Gilles was quite nice with us in Edinburgh last year but I have the felling that here he is too much a big shoot to get involved with people like us.

Bruce Hill came the other day to see the show and then took us all for dinner to a Mexican restaurant. Everybody have like the show very much and we are having a very successful run.

The other Bruce is one of the drivers that work for the festival. He is not just a driver he is also the drummer of the famous Montreal band “God speed black imperator”. Yes, he is a little bit of a personality. He is now playing with other bands and has done one year of apprenticeship to become acupuncture.
He came to pick me up from the airport and he also picked up Stephan before me. We started to talk and I told him that he should come to see the show. Bruce is really cool and he is a really nice guy to talk and hang out with. He laughed when I told him that for me the journey from the Montreal Airport to the city remained me from the beginning of “the Sopranos”. If anyone of you ever go to Montreal think about this and let me know what you think.

Bruce came today to see the show. He came with his girlfriend, another acupuncture. She was very nice but sadly I do not remember her name.   We decide to go for a drink and they took me to a brewery. I had been there before when we were living in Montreal rehearsing Zumanity. This place has a great terrace so you can sit outside when the weather is nice. Today was raining and we sat outside just for the little time stopped raining then it started again and we went inn. As we were having our beer the fireworks started. As part of the many festivals that Montreal has in the summer there is one of fireworks so every weekend a different company of fireworks from a different country drop their fireworks over the sky. This weekend was USA and all the fireworks were drop to the music of Elvis. They were really good.

After this we all went back to Riel. They had ordered some pizzas and beer and were sitting in the living room and the balcony talking. Bruce and his girlfriend fitted in perfectly and for us, with Mike and Lucy there we once more have the perfect evening.

Have fun.

REVIEW
Hello;

“Fart jokes and all, this fun is high art

ANNE SUTHERLAND, The Gazette

Published: Friday, July 13

I walked out of the Centaur Theatre on Wednesday night with absolutely no idea what I had just seen, but smiling all the same.

Spymonkey's Cooped is one bizarre theatrical performance but it is engaging, ridiculous and very, very funny.

This ensemble, comprising a Spaniard, a German and two Brits, have been together since 2000 and have conceived and performed not only Cooped but another show called Stiff and were part of Cirque du Soleil's adult Vegas act Zumanity. That should give you a clue that they aren't shy about doffing their duds on stage.

Spymonkey's Cooped is part of the Just for Laughs comedy festival and judging by the audience reaction (a standing O), it could be a crowd favourite this year.

It helps if you are a fan of the sitcom, early comedy acts and Pink Panther movies if you are to get the many sight gags and references, but not entirely necessary.

Elements of The Three Stooges, Fawlty Towers, gothic soaps, British bedroom farce and some song and dance choreography la Monty Python are all rolled into one in this performance that defies description, but here's the gist:

A pretty young girl, Laura du Lay, arrives at a remote country manor in England. There she meets attractive but seemingly disturbed Forbes Murdston, an upper-class twit. He has an ominous butler, Klaus, who bears a striking resemblance to Bull from Night Court. There's a lawyer, Roger Parchment, whose accent is vintage Clouseau. An Inspector Detective Judadench, an Italian bishop and three ultra-conservative Jews are also along for the ride.

Laura falls for Forbes but there are complications. Klaus hates Parchment and insults him at every turn. The three Jews are part of a dream sequence. And the bishop? Who knows what that's all about, but his ring-kissing routine brought down the house, including his fellow actor who could barely keep a straight face.

There are four actor/comedians playing these parts and all are gifted. Petra Massey is a very acrobatic Laura, Stephen Kreiss is a hysterical Klaus, right down to the John Cleese German soldier routine. Toby Park plays Forbes as a fey, young Christopher Plummer look-alike and does a funny turn as a fig-leafed sprite.

Stealing the show, but only by a tiny bit, is Aitor Basauri as Parchment/Judadench/the bishop.

Comparisons can be made to Peter Sellers in Basauri's performance but he also resembles a beefier and butchier Kevin Spacey. He endures all manner of kicks to the groin, bird droppings on his head and numerous swipes of his toupEe.

There are also fart jokes and a Ping-Pong bit right out of Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

It sounds very puerile and it is, but these comedians make it work. The staging is done in such a way that the audience is in on the joke and at certain times the actors speak right to the paying customers.

It ain't high art but it is highly entertaining. You owe it to yourself to just sit back and laugh.”

RIEL & STEPHANIE
Hello;

Ah¡¡¡ I might have talked to you about this great couple in the pass but I am going to do it again this time because they are wonderful people and there are far too many great things about them that you should know.

First they live in Montreal. They have rented a flat together for a couple of years now and I am staying with them while we play at the festival. They are super generous. They have put an air mattress in the office so I can sleep there. As it happens there is a very noisy air conditioning machine in the building that I see through the window and for one night my sleep has not being great.

But them what is a bad night sleep when next morning your friend wakes you up with a big plate of raspberry pancakes with maple syrup that will give you energy for the whole day.

Stephanie and Riel are really the perfect hostess. I have been having with them the perfect time. The perfect evenings listening to music or watching a football match on the TV of the world cup under 21 or just walking around town looking for a helmet to play street hockey.

The car would come to pick me up at their house and …well, it is difficult to describe it better but I felt like someone from the family. That was my house for the time I stayed with them.

They both are perfect for each other. I do not want to extend myself more about how good they are together and how nice is to be with them and see them everyday because they may split up and it would be my fault because I created this fairytale.

As it happens we met Riel and the crew of Lovesick when we did Zumanity in Las Vegas. We became super-good-friends in no time. Then I met Stephanie when she came with Riel to visit us in Bilbao. For all this time, when Spymonkey has been with the Lovesick crew we have always felt like big group of great friends. We have such a good time together that I hope this friendship will never end and that we will see each other's lots of time during the year.

Have fun.

PRESS PEOPLE
Hello;

There was a press called at the theatre a 13:30. Times goes very slowly and you have to go keep the energy up all the time. You have to keep a very good administration of your energy so when the show comes it does not happen the thing that happened yesterday. We did not have enough energy and so lucked of quite a lot of punch and crispiness. At the end of the day it is part of what and actor job is. I am not going to tell anyone of you what is the job of an actor because there are many days when I do not have a fucking clue myself.

Anyway, we had a couple of TV people and a couple of radio people and some other people who where taking pictures that did not seem to make any sense with the other people involve in the thing. In fact there was a guy in the tenth row taking pictures and recording the number that we had done that had a very small camera so. His camera it looked even smaller than mine. He looked more live a voujeur than a proper journalist.

We did the Naked scene and the rigid body and they went down very well. At the end all the journalist when to interview Petra and Toby and Stephan and me where left sitting in the auditorium like “sweat foreigners that stitch football in India.

Later on we agreed that from now on if there is an interview we should always mention the names of all the people that are in the company or better the ones that are the company and then the rest.

I was not upset I promise.

When you work in company there are so many things that you have to learn to let go so the work can be done. If you are not able or do not want to let those things go it is better to work by yourself.

Have fun.

HAVE LOTS AND LOTS OF FUN
Hello,

Let alone that fun is not something that you can come up with like you come up with a spit from your mouth. It is there, right but even after all these years it does not come out as fast and as reliable as you expect.

Cal called from his holydays retreat in Almeria.   He is having holydays there with his husband in a small house close to the motorway. Anyway, he was so sweet calling there is so much fun to have here in the show that we are doing that it is going to be difficult not to have all the fun that we should.

Because everything is about fun, in this kind of shit that we do you have to have fun all the time. You have to have fun when you rehearse and you have to have fun when you perform and you have to have fun all the time. This said sometimes you have created a fantastic routine that does not need lots of work from the actors.

And it is not very often that you have the opportunity to play material that is work proof and that if you just repeat the routine straightforward it will work. Then there are always people that will argue about this point but I strongly believe what I am saying. In fact repeating them physically by numbers many times until you make them yours has always learnt the classic clown numbers. Then the numbers in it get something from you, they become yours or you become theirs and that is something very great and exciting.

Fun is something indescribable. The only way I can say something about it is by trying to describe the felling that you get inside your body. You fell as if your eyes have been fill up with stars and there is a buzzing engine inside the upper part of your stomach. From that engine there is a kind of electricity that gets spread all over your body making it fell really light. Yes, you can move really light, you fell really brave and courageous but respectful at the same time and then your imagination and brain works really fast.

This fun I am talking about is not the fun as when a rugby team won the national championship it is more like when you are in love and the person that you love loves you back. Or when suddenly you fell really happy with a group of friends and you realised that you have not been with them for a long time and suddenly you remember how good you used to fell when you used to spend some time with them.

So today we have to create really good made in England or Sweden fun to do the show because it is the preview and if it goes well it will make us to do the rest of the run a very good one.

Come to see the show if you are in Montreal and go to see Callate in Edinburgh at the festival.

Have fun.

CAL & MATT
Hello;

They have arrived to Noja some days ago and I have not had the time to go and visit them. Cal & Matt have been coming to Noja for some year now. They are very kind to have me in their house when I am there so we do a very particular version of the swap houses program. Of course they are more generous than me because holydays in Noja is nothing in comparison with having a room in London whenever I need.

I can even call it my house and my room.

I know Cal for many years now. I met him the first time in a workshop audition for Gargoyle Theatre Company. There he was improvising with his pipe and a little bit of white cotton coming out. He was talking a lot and I have to say I did not find it any funny. We were stuffing at Philippe Gaulier School and we were into physical theatre and we did not like very much people talking a lot. I realised now that the problem was that we did not speak any English at all.

After that I met him in a show in Sheffield. I did my first show in England at the Crucible theatre in Sheffield. The show was the Servant of two Masters. In the show Cal was a master and I was a servant. We become friends there and we have been friends ever since.

When Spymonkey was looking for a director the first person I thought of was Cal and I introduce Cal to Spymonkey and Spymonkey to Cal. He knows Toby from before thou.

He has been and is a great influence in what I have done for the last seven years. I have not done many show in which Cal was not involve or he made possible for me to be in them.

I am a foreign actor and it is difficult for me to get work in England.

Cal met Matt almost at the same time as Spymonkey and Matt has been great with him and for him. I like them a lot together. I love them together and when I am in their house both make me fell really well there.

I cannot avoid falling a little bit intrusive sometimes. It is just my own paranoia because they really make me fell at home.

Now I am going to spend the day with them at the beach in Noja and later on we will go to Udaia to see Glassofwhiky and then we will have a great dinner at her house and then we will go for a walk in the country and then tomorrow I have to go to Montreal so this is the end of my month of July in Bilbao.
Have fun.

SUMMER
Hello;

I am writing summer again immediately because I want to find out if I spelt it correctly on the title. I am terrible with the spelling and I really have to make an extra effort so I do not miss spell all the time.

I have to say that some of my readers finding amusing but I think it is a cheap and derogative joke at the expense of a foreigner who have not managed in thirteen years of leaving in an Anglo-Saxon environment to have a good written English.

Anyway, summer is here, I have not been here lately, I mean here in Spain. I have been rehearsing Cooped in Brighton and now I am ready to go and spend some time with my lovely wife Miren and see my friends and enjoy the time of the beginning of the summer.

It is the best time ever because it is full of details and messages that bring lots of full memories.

One of them is the night of St Juan. It is always the night of the 23 rd June. It is the longest day of the year so in Spain people celebrated with a big fire where everybody gathers around to eat drink and watch the fire.

When I was a kid the most important thing was to be part of one. You needed to have a gun and for the week before the night of the “Sanjuananda” you will be going around your neighbourhood collecting all the wood and things that could get burn. Also you have to get hold a big wooden pillar that will be the centre of fire. At the top of the wooden pillar you will stick a scarecrow that will get burn to the amusement of all of us.

In many occasions we had to stole a pillar that was needed to install an electrical cable, or a pillar that was used in the rail track and those where the most successful nights where the world of illegal business was part of the fun.

The big fire will be light by the leader of the gang and families, friends and curious will come to see the fire and sometimes to eat “Chocolate with bizcochos” that one of our mothers have prepared.
We will all wait for the end because one of the best things apart from being allowed to stay until late on the streets was to be there to try to jump over the burning ashes of the fire. This moment does not bring very good memories. I am fat, I have been fat all my life so I was always one of the last ones to try to jump and I only did it because if not people will make fun of me. In any case I was never able to jump properly and I always burnt my clothes or myself or many other embarrassing things that can happen to you when you try to jump over big fire and you are fat. So they always laugh at me but to my luck that was always the moment to leave until next day.

Have fun.

TOMORROW
Hello;

-What will it be the point of thinking about tomorrow?

-Well, it makes sense so you will be ready if anything happen. You will have save some money in case you have an accident and you cannot do anymore what you do to make money and support your family.

•  Well, yes that is all very well, but if I do not have a family?

•  Ok, may be you will never have a family but the experience tell all of us that the future is unpredictable and anything can happen therefore you have thing about tomorrow in order to secure a comfortable life.

•  Yes, but that is really boring, that will mean that I have to find a proper job. A job that is nine to five and that pay all the national insurance contributions and everything. That would be so boring. I do not think I could do it.

•  Well, I am not saying you do what I did or all the people of my generation did but think about what and how do you want to live when you are old…for example try to create a parallel business. So when you are travelling try to find something that people do overseas that we do not do here and try to import it here. That could be an idea.

•  Well, but if there are not things like that here is because people do not want them. And I am sure that if they are not here is because someone has already try and …no, I do not want to do that.

•  So what are you going to do?

•  I do not know… but I think I will probably have to work until I died, even if I am a cripple and then died working. The biggest problem of that is that I do not like working

•  That is really a problem

•  But I do what I like to do

•  That is good but make sure you have health to do it until you are very old

•  I am planning to get rich, very rich and then live from the interest of my richness that the bank will pay me.

•  You are so stupid my son.

Have fun.

COFFEE
Hello;

I am going through a face of primary elements. I am sure you all who follow those little, few and very inconsistent words that I write here have realised by now that those are the subjects that are in my mind at the moment.

I have not been working with Spymonkey for a while so I spend my time here in Spain and I am getting ready to go to Montreal to do the Just for laughs festival. We do have lots of hope that the festival will bring us lots of new prospects into our stuck carers. But that is another subject.

As I put the little spoon into the pot where I keep my coffee I think about the little things of life and how them define who you are for example. I make my coffee in the morning and 19 times out of twenty I spill some coffee in the counter that I leave without cleaning after wards.
What does that say about myself?

Well, first that I am a little bit of a slow. It is not he first time I have been called something like that. Second that I do not care about my coffee and how does it get cooked. But that is not really true. I do take care of my coffee. Usually I allow myself just one per day, mainly in the morning and perhaps if I have had a busy day I have another one in the afternoon after my lunch.

The one in the morning I prepared in my cafeteria.   When in Spain I use a local coffee label called Fortaleza and when in England I used the international Lavazza. I fill the cafetera with hot water so it does not take too long to hit up and then I put half mug of milk to warm in the microwave. Then I put the toasts in the toaster and I looked the paper or my mail while I wait for the coffee and the milk to get to their optimum state. I like my coffee warm. What I mean is that it is always too hot but I will rather put cold milk to make it drinkable than had to put it back in the microwave because I misjudge the amount of time the milk had to be warmed up.

Once the milk and the coffee rest together in the mug I put half spoon of sugar and I sit to put (I am having a face with peanut butter and jam and that is what I put in my toasts) peanut butter and jam in my toasts. Usually I have two slices.

After that everything is heaven, I drink my coffee, I eat my toasts, I read my paper and when I finished all of them I clean up and go somewhere else leaving behind my a mark of my slow personality, a big/small stain of coffee wandering in the counter of the kitchen.

Have fun.

!!!SUCH A CUNTS¡¡¡
Hello;

That is an expression very much used with in the Spymonkey world. In fact in an old show of us that we will revive in the autumn one of the scenes finish with the four-letter word.

I know it is not the most sophisticated word you can say to people but in the Spymonkey world now for far too many years we have been using it to describe the people who for not reasonable reason have denied or slaged down our work or simply people who by no apparent reason they have killed us before even given us the chance to prove what we can do.

Over the years we have increased the big bag of ¡¡¡ Such a cunts !!! And at the moment is so full of them that it is scary. I do not know what we will do if one day we achieve a position where we can open that bag and show the “Such a cunts” their own nature. That day it would be the day when a big amount of population of this world will have a very big surprise when looking inside the bag they will find out that their nature have the “cunt” characteristics.

Of course there is the sexiest component of the use of that word. I do not believe you all who have that part in your bodies should fell insulted for the miss use of the word. On the contrary, I would like to call the bag “ such a pricks “ but it does not work as good thou I have to say that   “cocks” it is a very nice word to describe the people that fill up the bag.

So I apologise on behave of Spymonkey for all the cunts of the world because we like cunts but we do not like cunts, the cunts are nasty people but we like cunts in girls but not cunts who populate the world to make the life of other people more difficult than it should.

Have fun.

BAKING
Hello;

IN a way there is nothing like warm bread. Well, yes you can put in an oven and warm it up but it is much better to have recently made loaf of bread.

The smell is unique. The smell comes from the union of all the ingredients in a perfect way. The process of the bread growing a becoming the loaf that we are about to it is really amazing. In a way it applies to all the rules of nature when it comes to creation.

There is a seed that gets mixed with another seed. The two seed go into a place where they get together and start to have a small life.

By adding water and food for those seeds the whole little thing starts to grow until it becomes the embryo of a future good looking bread.

You let it rest for a while and then it goes into “the oven “. It does not need to be in the oven for nine months like human beings but it needs it right amount of time. We may want to think that all breads are the same but every single bread has his/her own particular characteristics. Just think about it for one second and you will discover that you have never seen two twin breads. You probably breads that look like but not twins or exactly the same breads.

Well, after spending its necessary time in the oven the Bread is taken out and there you have it, a warm creature that will have a very short life because at the most it could last for a day and a half.
You could keep it in the freezer and then toast every piece when you want some but it is a little bit cruel. I believe breads should be taken as they come from the oven and finished before the end of the day.
Lets give to our dear friend the loaf of bread a good life and respect its being by eating it in one day or day and half and not keep it in our tables or pots for days until the moho comes and eat it wildly.

Have fun.

THE SKY
Hello;

I do wander, you know, when I look at the sky if there is anything up there but immediately I rule out my thoughts because I know that it is a hung up of my catholic education and I tell myself really fast that I do not believe in a God.

But even then I look at the sky and I wander about how beautiful it is and how not real it is.

Let me explain, the sky is like a vision, like one of those things that when you have been in the middle of the desert for too many days you see and then once you are there they are not there anymore, something like a vision. And I say this because in comparison with the water in the sea the sky you cannot touch once you are there.
Never the less when I look at it from down here and even from a plane I always think about how it would be to touch the sky? How would it fell?

And I do not want to be poetic or anything like that, what I am talking about is the most pragmatic of the things. I am talking about the physical thing of touching something and felling if it soft or hard or warm or cold.

In my imagination the sky is definitely cold. It looks warm with the blue colour and the clouds going around like little steam puff coming from the blue but for me the sky is cold.

Also it is hard, not hard and raff it is hard and fine so when your hand would touch the sky the sensation is a mixture of nice and scary. It would be nice because it is well sanded and fine but scary because it is so cold that you cannot keep your hand for too long in contact with it.

So. I do not think I will ever try to touch the sky but I will carry on looking at it from any window or place where I could see the beautiful blue colour.

Have fun.

GRASS,
Hello;

Why do we use grass when we could use other things? I mean the grass for the gardens not the grass for making t-shirts and shoes and things like that. In a way we should really go for the definition of garden to see if gardens have to be always with garden? I do not think so. In fact you can have an amazing gardens just with little gravel.   I cannot spell the word properly because I do not know if is something that really exists in English as a word or not.

But lets carry on talking about grass. Grass it is quite pleasant. When you leave from your house to the outside and what you see is a small piece of land in green with all those little green hairs that tickle you when you walk barefoot. It is very pleasant to feel the freshness of the night in your barefoot and then get a coffee freshly grounded.

The take a nice lying chair a grab your paper and ready of a while you lay on the on the lying chair. As you pass the pages the fresh smell of the recently cutgrass arrives to your nostrils and you fell like a million dollars.

The grass that everybody uses has a much stronger smell and it is not the best time of the day to smell it in the morning. Then they all say, the ones that like to smells the other grass in the morning that there is not such a thing as a bad time to smell grass.

One of the things about grass, the one that is covering the small pieces of land that lucky owners have is that it goes with flowers. Yes, most of the time where there is grass there is flowers. You see a little bit of grass and then you will see flowers, all kind of flowers. They always look really good when you see them around the grass. They come in all colours and then you see how all those colours match between themselves and then the grass in the middle. The green has to be very green and that makes the whole thing to see all the colours of the flowers better. And now that I think about it that is probably the reason why grass exists. Grass becomes the canvas where you paint and place the flowers or the colours.

It is not the best subject grass but that is because we have lots of misconceptions about things that are not very exciting. But if you take a very close look to all the things that are very boring you will realise that nothing is boring or exciting but it is you the one that is looking and finding the subject boring the one that is boring and no the object.

There are not grass spotters as far as I am concern. I have seen competitions of garden designs or festivals of Orquideas but when it comes to festivals for grass qualities I have never seen anyone.

I have seen people being super careful with grass things like for example people who cut the grass o the golf courses. I have seen them cutting the grass and taking care of it with a measure tape to see if it has the right amount of centimetres. Or the people that take care of the grass of Wimbledon first court they also do the taking care of grass in a very serious manner. There are more places that their only importance if for the grass they have but I am not going into them now.

My point is to have care for the boring things because you never know when they are going to surprise you.

Have fun.

LAST NIGHT
Hello;

The night before, the night before last the weather was good and there were a little bit more extra people on the streets. You could not see the stars on the sky because as any other night in London there are far too many lights on and that makes impossible to see one of the most amazing views of nature.

The air was warm, not hot but warm to the point that allowed you to be sitting outside, in the garden having a conversation with friends. That air brings you memories from times with friends surfing in San Diego or times with friends barbequing in Las Vegas or time in the slopes in Switzerland where it is not hot in the evening but it is hot enough inside the coats and gloves and big boots.

The sounds in the warm night air are many. It is especially loud when you are in London, when you are in Muswell Hill. There, the planes let you know their way while they are leaving London and pass over the house. Also I can hear the neighbours having fun in their gardens and everybody seems to be laughing and having a good time. There is the odd alarm and the really loud police siren running after the baddies that are always hunting the next big prize, especially in nights like these where everybody is relax enjoying the comfort ability of their houses and gardens.

You, I do not hear any animals or birds or creatures that will reassure that we live in a world that has many alive creatures. It is very possible that we the humans have killed all of them so we can have nights like this without disturbances.

Yes, I have the ecological nerve completely swollen. I cannot understand how everybody not thinks in the same way as me. Don't you realise that the earth is getting fucked too many times? And let me break it to you, the earth is getting fucked by all of us and by now it has got fucked far too many times.

If this carries on like this we will not have many nights like this one, all the nights will be like this one because the weather will always be hot. The seasons will disappear and if there were not cold nights there would not be warm nights. The nights we will appreciate in the future would be the cold ones. And I do not see myself or any one else going out in a very cold night with a big smile in my face because I am going to have a fantastic night tittering outside. A night where I will have lots of clothes on and that would make me the happiest person. Also I could gather with friends around a fire and talk about the fantastic things that we are going to be able to do when we get warm up. The answer to that it wills became appears very soon, NOTHING.

So please do pump up your ecological nerve so we get more of these fantastic night for much longer.

And do not forget to go and see the show Callate in Edinburgh this summer because everybody says is very good and funny.

Have fun.
