When we started at the beginning of 2008 to put together the plans for 2009 and Moby Dick, we expected to have some work to do: we knew that raising the money for such an ambitious project was not going to be easy, but we felt it was manageable, given our track record. We'd been very successful at raising most of the money to create this, the biggest and best show that we've ever made - Brighton & Hove City Council gave us the biggest arts grant of 2009; we managed to secure 100% of the funding from the Arts Council of England that we applied for; and we were delighted to be commissioned for the first time by Royal & Derngate Northampton to create a show to open their autum season.

Things went very well.

And then the banks went belly up and all the trusts and foundations that normally have money to spend on projects like ours had to slash their budgets. We have doubled our own contribution to the project, but...

The time is upon us where we seriously need your help. At the beginning of the year we asked you, friends and subscribers to our mailing list, for your ideas in raising funds, and enough of you mentioned a Friends' scheme for us to think that it would be well worth setting up. The idea is to make a small annual contribution to our work in return for helping to keep one of the most singular theatre companies in the world.

We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without the support of a huge number of friends, sponsors, business partners and, most valued of all, punters. Well, now we are asking for MORE help from you. Yes that’s how BRASS NECKED we are, we’re getting down to BRASS TACKS. We’re asking you to MUCK in, and give us some of your hard-earned BRASS. You won’t be BRASSED OFF with the BRASSY pleasures you’ll be getting in return.

Got the message? Enough BRASS puns now?

Sign up - you know it’ll make you feel GOOOOOOOOD........

Yours sincerely,
Toby Park
